An experience of business simulation

Can you imagine that your class is a big company? In all time you need to be concerned with the operation of the company and company's performance, even the market share. These things are what we usually cannot imagine in a student’s daily life, but last week, I really experienced how to manage a company.

Last week I took part in ASDAN business simulation in Fo shan, Guangdong. In this event, we split into different groups, each group represents a company, each company has the same starting capital, and produce the same kind of goods. All companies are in the same simulated market operation. Therefore the task of each group is how to allocate the human resource, how to control the prices, the acquisition of raw materials, and analysis the market. You also need to complete the project and do presentation to show the characteristics and management skills of your company. Ultimately, only the company，which has the largest and the most profitable market share will be the winner.

The former requires you to do a lot of calculation and analyzing capabilities, the latter requires your creativity and expression skills to do a presentation well. This is a test of teamwork for each group. Only the tacit understand with each other, it is the only way for a group to win in the end.

So I learned that successful teamwork is very important, whether it is an simulation of the company, or a real company, at the beginning of the activity, all of us have different views, we did not have a perfect team work, so at the beginning, our company is at a loss. Later we reassigned members of the group, some of the people were responsible for the operation, some people did the project. Finally we finished the tasks and put them together, thus ensuring our group to complete the task efficiently.

Although we are not the final victory group, not only did I learn the spirit of teamwork, which enhances the friendship between the classmates, but also this is my first time to learn how to run a company,  I gain it.

ASDAN BUSINESS SIMULATION REPORT

Last week my classmates and I went to Foshan, Guangdong and joined the 2013 ASDAN Business Simulation.

In this business simulation, teams that joined in this competition would be the companies which were all producing glasses. These companies had the same market and the same fund. I was grateful that my teammates led me to be the CEO of our team.

In the competition, there were a lot of competitors that are from other cities in China even in North Korea. My team had strong competitors and their English were excellent, but I wasn’t afraid of joining the competition. I thought it was a challenge and a good chance for me to improve my English.

In my team, everyone had his or her own and unique skills. Kristen, one of my teammates, and also my classmate, she could draw pictures very well, so she helped us to draw advertising posters for our company. Lin, my teammate, she also had the artistic talent, so she helped us to design the logo and slogan of our company. Allen, my teammate, he had a very clever mind and he had a strong ability to calculate and analyze, so he was the market analyst of our company. Free tomato, my teammate, he had a strong ability to give the presentation, so he was the spokesman of our company and we used his name to be our company’s name. Tom was also my teammate who was good at thinking and creating, so he was the manager of creative department in our company. Patrick, another teammate from senior three, his English was excellent so he helped us to write company introduction and speeches.As for me, I just put their results to the competition judges.

From this competition, I learned a lot of English learning skills and I got some information of the students from other places that were learning English too. I admire their English and their excellent performances gave me the motivation to learnEnglish better. I appreciate that my school gave me a chance to join this competition. Though my team didn’t win the competition, I think everyone had tried his or her best. If the competitions like thisare held again and we could have a chance to join in them, we will be back again.

The summary writing of participating the ASDAN

During the two days of competition, everyone was exhausted. Our group did a really good job in every round of the competition, especially those girls who don’t like to talk generally.

There are 22 groups in this business simulation. Luckily our group got the place of No.9 at last, but I do think that we are unprepared before we step on the stage. In other words, comparing with those who speak English as mother tough, our analytic skills, communication and negotiation skills are weaker.

Anyway, we are not at the last. Anything we did may give us ideas for future use. Our tiny achievement is connected with ever members’ hard working and our organized team work. Thank to those judges and teachers from Kunming No.8 high school for giving us this chance to enhance our business skills.
